John Owen is the joint author of a new book about Dr Arthur Douthwaite, a Christian missionary who worked at the Chefoo Mission, China from 1875 until his premature death, aged 51, in 1899. John trained to be a doctor at Cambridge and London, and then went into general practice in Colchester in 1960. He married Pat Aitken in 1959, and they had three children, all of whom have developed successful careers in the business world. After thirty three years in practice, John retired and he and Pat began to enjoy travelling, making several journeys across Europe and to the Himalayas. In 1999, John became interested in family history, which led to him uncover the story of Dr Arthur Douthwaite, who was a distant relative of his mother. Besides family history, John retains a keen interest in travel, hill walking, golf and gardening Buy Douthwaite of the Double Dragon from Amazon
